Geometry lesson incorporated with Science
To incorporate Colette's geometry activities into my classroom, I used the idea of tracing the shape blocks to create a plan for a farm. Students had to follow directions by making sure their crop fields including certain features of geometry like a shape with two sets of parallel lines. They chose their shapes and traced to make their plan. They then had to add in land conservation techniques like wind breaks or contour plowing lines. Afterwards, they drew their farm on a larger scale with a legend for labeling all characteristics of their farm. A constructed response was added to the end of the activity to explain their farm.
